Disappointment

Today we are in Granite City which is a huge letdown. All the buildings are metal! Smelly Man is all dressed up so I guess it is a funeral or all-day meetings. (sigh)

A quiet week in Orange County.  Smelly Man and I stayed home all week and were invaded by a small creature called a Daisy.  Bouncy little ball of fur.  Didn't have much truck with her but Rudy and she engaged in battles to grim death three or four times per hour.  Quite bellicose but she is so tiny she has to wear a guinea pig harness for her walks.

Any case, we got in a lot of good naps since SM couldn't leave the Daisy alone in the house.  With a good snooze in the morning, a siesta after lunch, and a pre-dinner forty-winks these were golden days.  Tomorrow we are going to the dog park where the dogs will play while I supervise.  I hope Mr. Bob and Charlie show up so Rudy won't be the wildest dog in the park.  He embarrasses me at times with his antics.

Please consider donating to Canine Companions for Independence: it is my favorite registered charity and SM likes it also.

Best of Times

Today was a good day.  Smelly Man left the idiots at home and we went out for a wee bit of lunch at a place called Lew-seals. SM said Miss Janet had invited us to lunch.   SM always gets everywhere early so we were able to relax a bit outside.  Then things got a lot better.  I saw Miss Janet across the hard lawn and she had some chicken jerky in her handbag.  I made short work of that!

Just when I was settling down a bit, an even bigger surprise.  Miss Tiare and Miss Carolyne showed up to eat with us.  I had a big time under the table running to and fro between them and Miss Janet snuck something called "pulled pork" to me.  Yummy!

Then we had to go to Best Buy which is my favorite place (at least with no dropped food on the floor).    SM talked to some boys who seemed to know a lot more about computers than he did with the upshot that we already had the correct cable at home.  Then back to the idiots.  Izzie got into the recycle bin but she blamed it on Rudy again.  Cans everywhere!

I've been puzzling over something: why do two-legs spend so much time working?  We have a warm den, plenty of food, fresh water, and lots of creatures to play with.  Heaven as far as I can tell but SM constantly works himself into a tizzy worrying about things which don't matter such as long-term disability or dividends.  He won't even spring for pig ears for us.
Cheap rotter!

Mobile!

I thought we were going to have to hang out with the three d-o-g-s but we did something called "flying" to a place called DFW and then Smelly Man got on the wrong train and we almost missed the next bird to Mobile, Alabama.  There are lots of fishy smells here and if memory serves March has an R in it so we can get an oyster po' boy.

We are back at what SM calls "work" but it mostly seems to be a lot of talking to me.  There are plenty of shorebirds and ducks around here to chase so why we sit in a room with a bunch of two legs all day is beyond my comprehension.  At least ACS is not here!

Tomorrow we go to the facility for obviation or something like that.  I hope Miss Janet or Miss Tiare or Mr. Jim are there.  They are fun, unlike SM.

Working 9:00 to 5:00

Today Smelly Man took me to a nice place with lots of varmints in the trees, but then we sat inside all day long.  The only highlight was Messy Man who dropped a piece of ham (5 second rule: meaning it was all eaten within 5 seconds).  It probably tasted good.

A green lee-zard or skank or something had the audacity to walk across the sidewalk during my "lunch break" which involved no lunch and a short trip to the grassy knoll.  I scared her right off though.  Then a nice long nap before my snooze.

All in all, a good day in Gulf Shores.  Smelly man wants some oysters for dinner so I am hoping for a crumb or two.  He says we are going Cajun but I think he means commando.

A Very Blustery Day

Smelly Man and the Nice Lady took us to do something called "camping" in the dry place.  A strong wind blew all sorts of dust up my nose and Rudy got overwrought with excitement.   There was a People Park where lots of four-legs were bringing their people for a bit of a walk which was quite fortunate as several of the four-legs made deposits on the lawn.  Right nice grass it was, too.  We chased a bird which SM called a Rote-Runner.  Later, the wind made the rolling house rock a little which made for a nice series of naps.  We also got some new food which Rudy calls Yuk-a-Nu-Ba.  When the sun comes up, we are going for a ride in the metal tube.

At the Groomers

Smelly Man got his fur trimmed once he got away from the Big White Building.  Lots of two-legs were there and the cave was redolent with exotic chemicals.  I passed out on the floor and everyone thought I was doing a great down-stay.

SM looks a little better but he stills smells like a New Jersey moorland.  The fur trimmings were everywhere--really disgusting to have all that hair flying about.  He says he was really tired of the long hair but he knew it was irritating Mr. Tail-Duck.  So puerile!
